Veterans Ford Company Crawfish Boil
- It's springtime Louisiana! Its not cold anymore and it's one of the few months in the year that makes you want to spend all day outside because the weather is so nice.
- Quarter 2 starts, so we have all new rebates and deals to offer our customers. Great deals mean happy customers, and we love when our customers are happy.
- Crawfish. It's crawfish season which means crawfish boils ahoy! Everyone knows that these tasty morsels are one of the best things about it getting warm outside. They're also a great excuse to get a group together and get to know each other better, which is always easier to do over a great meal.
We had our first company crawfish boil of 2013 yesterday and the turnout was great. The crawfish were great, the company was great, and everyone left feeling satisfied in more ways than one. C'mon Man! Check out the pics below.

Ford and GM Form Alliance For the Future
According to Yahoo and The Detroit Bureau, Ford Motor Co. and General Motors company have formed and alliance to develop a 10- speed, automatic transmission. This alliance will help both of the companies work together towards attaining the 54.5 mile-per-gallon mandate that will be set in place by 2025.
In order to reach these new standards, auto companies are expected to spend billions of dollars in research and development, so it makes sense that auto rivals team up to slash costs and combine their respective talents. Automakers have formerly been banned from working together, but restrictions have eased considerably in recent years.
According to GM vice president of global transmission engineering, Jim Lanzon "Engineering teams from GM and Ford have already started initial design work on there new transmissions." Lanzon expects "the new transmissions to raise the standard of technology, performance and quality for our customers while helping drive fuel economy improvements into both companies' future product portfolios."
This project takes the gear count up to 10, which is believed to be the maximum gear count before factors like, mass, inertia, friction and cost overcome any advantage. High gear transmission have to be carefully designed to prevent "hunting", the process where the transmission has trouble shifting back and fourth between gears;it can be unsettling to drivers. So in a sense, the 10-speed transmission vehicle is the last frontier for modern day vehicles as we know them.
Not only will the advancements in transmission technology benefit the consumer, but it will also be a benefit for American auto-makers by decreasing the reliance on foreign transmission suppliers and will create more jobs here in America.
This is the third time Ford an Gm have formed a partnership. The previous projects yielded over 8 million 6-speed, front wheel drive automatic transmissions for large and small vehicles, which was a huge success. With a win like that behind them, the future looks promising.

The Blue Oval: All About Fuel Economy
|
What Exactly is Fuel Economy Anyway?Fuel economy is a measurement of how efficiently a vehicle burns fuel. Generally speaking, fuel economy is calculated by the miles per gallon (mpg) or kilometers per liter (km/l) of fuel that a vehicle consumes. The more distance per tank of fuel, the better the fuel economy. There are a variety of factors that can affect fuel economy and, with a few changes in driving habits, more time can be spent behind the wheel and less time at the pump. Losing weight, not running in place and being kind to your vehicle are just a few examples. What the heck are we telling you to loose weight for? Well... Click HERE to find out. Ford for the FutureGas prices are rising, wallets are shrinking and people are looking for ways to save. Ford knows this and has dedicated itself to become the leader in fuel-economy. Not only has Ford featured 12 vehicles with best-in-class fuel economy (more than any manufacturer) which included four models that achieve at least 40 mpg, but Ford has pledged that each new product Ford puts out will be the leader or among the leaders in fuel economy. Ford approaches its pursuit of improved fuel economy step by step, focusing on main points like; weight reduction, energy management, mechanical improvement, aerodynamics refinement, system optimization and electrification. Click below to see exactly how these points can help improve fuel economy.Click to learn more » |
Car App of the Month:
Why we like it: Both of these apps allow you to track your fuel mileage and output by inputing data. Gas Cubby focuses on tracking gas milages and vehicle maintenance by allowing you to keep track of service on your vehicle. Fuel Consumption comes equipped with in-depth graphs and statistics along with an editable database and uses GPS for tracking fuel output and other factors. Either would be a great addition to help fuel economy and both come in a free version. What are the top fuel efficient vehicles out there?Ford models like the Cmax, Fusion and Focus are at the top of their class in fuel economy. Other models like the new Escape, the Edge and even F-150s come available with eco-boost engines that will save you miles on the gallon.
